Consumers pick their favorites at Ohio St. summer plant trials

Succulents and petunias are top choices in consumer field, container plant evaluations

Ohio St. Univ. annual trial manager Bart Hayes has released the results of the consumer evaluation of the field and container plantings conducted this summer. Plants were graded on scale of 1 (the worst) to 5 (the best). The top 10 container- and field-grown plants were:
1. Echeveria Mix (container), D.S. Cole Growers (4.60)
2. Petunia Supertunia Vista Bubblegum (field), Proven Winners (4.59)
3. Succulent Mix (container), D.S. Cole Growers (4.58)
4. Petunia Cascadias Noble Blue (container), Danziger (4.55)
5. Calibarchoa MiniFamous Compact Watermelon (container), Selecta (4.53)
6. Petunia Wave Purple Improved (field), PanAmerican Seed (4.50)
7. Marigold Babuda Yellow (field), Ameriseed (4.48)
8. Petunia Petitunia Cranberry Dream (container), Danziger (4.45)
9. Jamesbrittenia Britney Grand Purple Joy (field), Danziger (4.43)
10. Petunia Ray Pink (container), Danziger (4.42)
